Thursday, February 19. Joy Primrose presents “All in Our Backyard:
Oregon Cetaceans”. Joy is Oregon Chapter President of the American
Cetacean Society. Her presentation is about the diversity of whales,
dolphins and porpoises found off the Oregon Coast, especially
highlighting species that can be viewed from shore. This Yaquina
Birders & Naturalists meeting starts at 7 PM at the Public Meeting
Room of Central Lincoln PUD (2129 North Coast Highway in north
Newport. The PUD is on the west side of the Highway between Whaler’s
Village and Atonement Lutheran Church. Cost: free. Everyone is

BIRDING FIELD TRIP
Saturday, February 21. “Birding Field Trip in Toledo”. Dawn Harris
will lead this Yaquina Birders & Naturalists field trip. Toledo has
many types of habitat from freshwater sloughs to shrubby woodlands.
During this trip we’ll make stops along Olalla Slough and Toledo’s
historic waterfront to search for wintering waterfowl including Hooded
Merganser, Wood Duck, Northern Pintail, American Wigeon, and
Green-winged Teal. We’ll scan woodlands for hawks, eagles, and a
variety of sparrows. We invite you to join us at this free event open
to everyone. Dress for variable weather and meet at 9 AM at the
Toledo Dairy Queen parking lot along HWY 20. The field trip will last
