A smoothie blend sold at Oregon Costcos are being recalled. Rader Farms officials report that three varieties of Rader Farms’ Fresh Start smoothie blends could be contaminated with Listeria. They found that kale and spinach used in the in blends were contaminated with Listeria.
The blends are:
Fresh Start Smoothie Blend
Fresh Start Sunrise Refresh Fusion
Fresh Start Daily Power Fusion
According to the parent company, Inventure Foods, the recalled products did not test positive for listeria, which can cause serious illness. Symptoms include fever, chills, severe headaches, vomiting, fever, muscle aches nausea and diarrhea. Symptoms can last up to four days.
Most people infected with Listeria never show symptoms, but those that do are pretty miserable for a few days. However those who are immune compromised, death is a real possibility, so anyone in that situation should head for a hospital emergency room ASAP.
