Oregon Senators team up with Senate Leader Mitch McConnell: They want to legalize hemp growing for commercial purposes
Just when you thought that a battle line is a battle line, along comes an issue so compelling it’s got the likes of both U.S. Senators from Oregon teaming up with the new GOP leader in the Senate – Mitch McConnell. All three agree that it’s time for a change on what’s been a controversial subject for decades. Growing hemp and using it in commercial applications.
McConnell and Oregon Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley maintain that the ban on growing the non-intoxicating version of cannabis, “hemp,” and putting it to commercial uses, needs to come to an end. All three point to hemp’s long historical usefulness in terms of it being refined into products such as hemp oil, wax, resin, rope, cloth, pulp, paper, and fuel. Even building materials.
