In the past year, there have been four legislative hearings on the topic of forestry herbicide sprays and rural community health. The Newport Town Hall Panel and Discussion is the third in a series of citizen meetings taking place around the state, from Tillamook to Curry counties.

The purpose of this town hall meeting is to provide a public education opportunity in a safe setting for input on these issues affecting many rural Oregon communities.

Panelists:
• Josh Seeds (DEQ), “Monitoring in drinking watersheds”
• Ernie Niemi, “Forest economy for this and future generations”
• Laurie Bernstein, “Private timber and risk from the use of pesticides”
• Dave Farrer and Curtis Cude (OHA), “Public health agency pesticide response duties”
• Chris Winter, “Pursuing personal property rights”
