Please join us for an informative town hall meeting with a panel of six expert speakers on topics such as the Oregon Forest Practices Act, human health impacts of pesticides, and economics and trends in forestry. Included on the panel will be private consultants, as well as, representatives from Oregon Health Department and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. An introduction will be presented by Lincoln County Commissioner Bill Hall, Commissioner Hall will also serve as moderator for the panel. Local communities will present a short report on the status of air and water quality in their areas.
In the past year, there have been four legislative hearings on the topic of forestry herbicide sprays and rural community health. The Newport Town Hall Panel and Discussion is the third in a series of citizen meetings taking place around the state, from Tillamook to Curry counties.
The purpose of this town hall meeting is to provide a public education opportunity in a safe setting for input on these issues affecting many rural Oregon communities.
