Report of a vehicle upside down in a creek off Highway 34 near East Sudan Road.
Central Coast Fire Rescue dispatched to the scene.
Central Coast Fire-Rescue reports the young male driver managed to pull himself out and get to the bank okay. But out of concerns for possible hypothermia, he was transported to PCH for a warm up and to be checked out.
Fire Chief Dennis Cannon reports that Highway 34 is a sheet of ice starting at the Eckman Lake turn-off – this despite Waldport being in the upper 40’s. Cold air can stay lodged up watersheds, trapped by warmer air above. So it’s like driving into a refrigerator just a couple of miles inland. So be aware of that if you’re traveling up Hwy 34.
