It doesn’t seem like enough people are listening out there to warnings from emergency responders. Debris on the beach is very dangerous, especially with some left over heavy surf right off the Oregon Coast. All it takes is a medium size wave to slam ashore and trap whoever is tip-toeing through the wood piles to get trapped and maybe even crushed to death.
A 7 year old boy was battered in such an incident earlier this week in Lincoln City. He was airlifted to a Portland trauma center bleeding from his ears. Latest word is that he’ll make it. But it serves as a clear message that the ocean is 100% unpredictable and that no one should try to fool themselves that it’s safe to wander among storm debris – even if it looks “cool.” Add enough water with NO WARNING and people get hurt and people die.
It couldn’t be any more clear.
