KYAQ, Lincoln County’s local public radio station, at 91.7 FM, celebrates their 1st on-air anniversary with a party and town hall meeting Sunday January 4th from 1pm-4pm. The public is invited to the KYAQ studios 321 SE 3rd in Toledo (formerly the Mary Harrison Elementary School) for live music, free food & beverages and KYAQ’s first live broadcast.
It’s also the first of a series of town hall style meetings that KYAQ is holding, designed to get the public’s input and ideas to expand local programming. KYAQ board member Bridget Wolfe explains “ Thanks to an amazing group of core volunteers we’ve gotten the station on the air and provided what we think is relevant, interesting programming but it’s mostly programming that is produced elsewhere. Now it’s time to make this a real community radio station – and that means getting as many people here in our Central Coast involved as possible.”
In addition to asking for your input and ideas, these Town Hall style meetings will introduce you to the KYAQ board and volunteers, describe the station mission, provide information on becoming a member, on underwriting with the station, and other ways that you can be involved. Additional dates will be announced soon for 3 more town meetings to be held in Newport, Waldport and Yachats in the coming weeks. Get more information on the January 4th event at KYAQ.ORG.
