Kids Sing Out are preparing for a sensational Christmas Celebration at the Lincoln City Cultural Center December 12-14. Most of our singing up has focused on tuning up to each other and creating a consistent unison chorus. But now with the development of KSOA (Advanced), KSO is breaking all the old boundaries. Christmas Canon (the contemporary Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s adaptation of Pachelbel’s Canon in D) has lifted KSO into complicated counterpoint harmonies. Choreographic elements are also being pushed an extra notch.
This year the Christmas production will feature both a country line dance Nuttin’ for Christmas” (Sugarland style) and a Celtic dance to the Blackmore’s Night version of I Saw Three Ships. You’ll see these new advances in every song and in the dynamic second act musical “Destiny.” Destiny is a unique short musical for Christmas written by John & Valerie Kendall. It is adapted from an old American Tale and is a wonderful metaphor of how are broken dreams can be woven into the tapestry of a higher purpose.
Performing our lead roles in Destiny are Haley Callin as The First Tree, Avery Nightingale as The Second Tree, and Margery Price as The Third Tree. Our main woodcutters are Katie Hudson, Hunter Kimbrough, Winter Callin, and Marshall Karstrom. Mary is played by Nora Williams. The show is beautifully costumed by Judy Allen, Jerry Corbin, and Shannon Zantello. Lightiing and set design by Flying Fish Productions.
