The classic English novel The Secret Garden will be shown on the mini-silver screen at the Newport Public Library on Tuesday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m.
The Secret Garden is a 1993 film based on the 1910 novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It tells the story of ten year old Mary Lennox, an orphan who is sent to Misselthwaite Manor, a bleak English mansion owned by her uncle. After befriending her invalid cousin, Colin, Mary discovers a neglected, hidden garden. In restoring the garden, the children set in motion a healing power that goes beyond the garden walls.
