It was a fun ride for Budweiser – a long one as the King of Beers riding atop a beer wagon and knocking everyone out with their beautiful Clydesdale horses. But as in REAL life, it’s time to put most ideas out to pasture – especially when “their time has come.” And according to sales figures, Craft Beers, as found throughout Oregon, are now selling better than Bud.
Maybe it’s time to replace the Clydesdales with youthful outdoorsman on mountain bikes to pull the beer wagon.
Although Budweiser says it’s not as simple as that, there is the fact that Bud has knocked off the throne of The King of Beers.
That probably explains part of Anheuser Busch’s motivation to acquire Bend’s 10 Barrel Brewing as their first major excursion into trying to win back younger beer drinkers.
