The Newport 60+ hosted a complete Thanksgiving Meal this week. The Mojo behind the delectable meal was the energetic Yo’Pro’s (young professionals) associated with the Newport Chamber of Commerce. The Chambers Director, Lorna Davis, also displayed honed kitchen savvy.
The team prepared a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal. Some were asking which cooking school these chefs were from. The meal was that good!
52 Meals on Wheels were delivered to homebound seniors by volunteers. The dining room was packed at both the noon and 2 pm seating. Over 170 meals were served by the delightful Girl Scout troop. They delivered dinner, salad and desserts. They served milk, juice and coffee. The dining room tables were adorned with the scouts artistic harvest designed placemats. The Toledo troop even entertained the diners with song!
The Friends of the Newport Senior Center, a (501C3), and the Newport Senior Center Association purchased the food this year.
