Seal Rock: Hit and Run Accident leaves S/B lane blocked at Seal Rock State Park – H&R vehicle later found north of Yachats
A hit and run accident has left a mess in the southbound lane of 101 near Seal Rock State Park. The vehicle hit by a white van contains an injured elderly male.
Reports say the white van took off without stopping. It has considerable front end damage and its lights are off. It was last seen headed south on 101 and may have exited onto a side road leading into the Bayshore area of Waldport. The vehicle is leaking fluid so that may help in tracking it down.
The offending vehicle is now reported to be a white Chrysler mini-van. Latest report said van was seen southbound on Alsea Bay Bridge heading in to Waldport.
Vehicle now reported southbound on 101 at milepost 166, two miles south of Yachats.
One law enforcement unit is following a trail of minor debris in the southbound lane about 3 to 4 miles south of Yachats. Florence Police have now also been notified.
Vehicle has been found on NE Starr Creek Road just north of Yachats. Two persons are being questioned. Sounds like one of two people in the van has been arrested. May have been on probation.
