The DLWID revealed at its last meeting a sign that will soon be used as an integral part of a life jacket loaner station at Regatta Park. DLWID Board Director Randy Weldon spearheaded the project and has been working with the City of Lincoln City, the Oregon State Marine Board, and Oregon Correctional Enterprises to produce the sign.
Depicted on the sign is not only good educational information about the use of life jackets, but also how to properly fit them. Board signage explains in both English and Spanish how to effectively fit a life jacket, and reminds everyone that it is the law for every child, age 12 and younger, to wear a life jacket while boating. The station will offer several life jackets across a wide range of sizes (child through adult). The station will be installed this spring at Regatta Grounds Park in Lincoln City on the west side of Devils Lake.
