The Toledo City Council Wednesday night finally adopted a procedure so that an applicant with a state permit can apply to set up a medical marijuana dispensary. The regulations involve being at least 1,000 feet from a school or park where children play as well as a thousand feet away from any other medical marijuana dispensary. They must also be completely open and accessible to inspections by state as well as local police.
Toledo City Councilors require that any applicant go through a rigorous background check – even deeper apparently than required by the Oregon Health Authority. City Attorney Wes Chadwick says one applicant has applied for a permit to open a dispensary on Main Street but does not as yet have a full permit from the state. To get that the applicant must show he’s installed proper video surveillance equipment and other aspects of security in order for the state to issue a full and qualifying permit.
No word on when the dispensary might be open.
