I would like to say thank you to a few businesses and citizens in Lincoln County for their wonderful donations to the Toledo Elks #1664 Veterans Program for our Annual Veterans Day Dinner. Without their generosity we could not have had such a successful dinner!
We had 75 attendees at the dinner, 36 of them being Veterans who dined free of charge. Four Veterans (2 posthumously) received the Oregon Honorable Service Medal from Veterans of Oregon (Tony Hartley, president, and Tony Molina, Siletz Tribe Veterans Rep, presented). All Veterans received a medal from the Oregon Coast Veterans Association (Jim Reed, president, and members presented).
The Yaquina Bay Coast Guard Color Guard — your presentation of posting and retiring The Colors is so impressive! Thank you so much for your continued willingness to attend our Veterans functions. You guys rock!
Thank you to Bonnie Swanner and Marci Christensen for their wonderful crocheted afghan and scarves for raffle and door prizes. You have both been a wonderful support for this program!
Also thanks to the Edge Art Gallery in South Beach for the glass float. Your items are always beautiful and I so appreciate your ongoing generosity to our Veterans program.
Heartfelt thanks goes to Donald Carlson of Siletz for the glass pumpkin. The glass cherry you donated for Flag Day was gifted back to us after that raffle and we auctioned it as well! Again, your generosity is wonderful and your continued support of our Vets is greatly appreciated!
Thank you to the Whaler’s Motel for the generous donation of a room for Tony Hartley, coming from Portland area.
Past Exalted Ruler & Veterans/Americanism Chairperson,
