The Lincoln County Master Gardeners™ (LCMGA) recently braved wet and windy weather to congratulate and welcome the Graduating class of 2014 Gardening Apprentices into the program. The event was held at the Oregon Coast Community College Campus where the Master Gardeners continued their support to “Reduce Hunger in Lincoln County” through their hand grown donations to the Food Panty. The theme for the event featured edible table decorations and 72 pounds of winter vegetables that were donated in addition to 92 pounds of canned goods brought by the gardeners. The organization has contributed 10,030 community service hours, made 7,500 public contacts, and donated over 1,200 pounds of fresh produce from their gardens.
There were 19 graduates this year and the following recognition awards were made to individuals that made outstanding contributions of service to the organization.
Extension Leadership Award: Cathi Block
