Message from Newport Public Library

Looking for a place to write short stories, poems, novels, or even grocery lists or random thoughts? Hoping to improve your writing and share it with other writers? We’ve got the group for you.

“A Spew of Words” (a teen writers group) will be meeting three times a month at Newport Public Library. The first meeting will be Thursday, November 6th from 3:45 to 4:45. This is an ongoing group, meeting each Thursday at 3:45, with the exception of the third Thursday of the month when the library holds it’s regular “Teen Third Thursdays” programs.

This teen-facilitated group will work on writing exercises and discuss and critique writing projects (from short stories to novels). The group will discuss plans for participating in “NaNoWriMo” (National Novel Writing Month), an online challenge to write a part or whole of a novel in the month of November. Attendees will also participate in “Word Wars”, an activity where people write as many words as they can in a set amount of time.

Our group is open to teens between the ages of 12 and 18. Writers at all levels are welcome! Bring a writing journal if you want, but we will have paper and pens ready to go. We are looking forward to seeing you and reading what you’ve got!
