Roger Sprague, Candidate for Lincoln City Mayor
As a 35 year resident of Lincoln City and former 25 year business owner here, I have an investment in our community. That experience has allowed me to learn what works and doesn’t so we don’t waste time on the “doesn’t”. I’ve been retired for 10 years and have the time energy, and energy to be mayor. I dream of Lincoln City being a place where we all feel we have an investment and take pride in our community. We must never forget that tourism is our major industry and we have to keep Lincoln City attractive to visitors.
Since our city manager of 15 years is retiring Dec. 31st the new mayor and council will be working with a replacement who needs a strong, experienced leader to help during the transition process. Our new council, will have three new faces without experience, so will even more require the next mayor to possess that experience and leadership. I have served on the council five different times, am current chair of the Urban Renewal Agency, and chaired numerous other committees. I am a co-founder of Angels Anonymous, Pacific NW Kiwanis District Risk Manager, member of the Elks and former scholarship chair for 15 years and now the audit chair, and very active in my church.
Going forward I want to continue keeping Lincoln City strong fiscally by using our five year budgeting plan. All our department funds are well positioned except the street fund. Our streets are underfunded and unless we step up our maintenance, over the next five years we may find ourselves having to replace, rather than repair streets. That increases the cost by six times. We must find the dollars it takes to stay ahead of the game. I want to continue improving our water saving program by repairing more leaks in the system. We have made great strides in reducing the leakage but have more to accomplish.
Lincoln City needs strong and experienced leadership going forward and Roger Sprague is your leader. I ask you to vote for Roger Sprague, your voice of reason and experience.

“A mayor for all of us” That’s what I want to be for the people of Lincoln City. As a small business owner I know how tough the last years have been. Businesses are failing and not a single plan has been put forward by your city council. My priorities: Jobs, Businesses, Families, Making city government more accountable to you. I want a greater focus on public arts with an emphasis on our native American heritage. We need to help our younger citizens find meaningful work or create small businesses here so they won’t leave us for the Valley. We need to increase support for our Senior citizens and the
programs on which they rely. My governmental experience is new. I’ve become involved in the city’s working because I’ve grown tired of excuses why things can’t get done. I work for a living, just like you. I’m running for mayor because we deserve better. This city and it’s people have so much potential. I want to make sure the city government gets out
of the way of the people that want to grow this town’s economy. I’ve served on the Lincoln City Chamber of Commerce board, Buy Local of Lincoln County board and served as President of the Bay Area Merchants Association. I know the people of this town and what they want from their mayor. I’m asking for your vote to bring some fresh, new ideas to the
