An elderly couple inside their Deer Lane Loop mobile home had a dump truck run into their house early this morning.
Reports say the truck owner was working on his vehicle’s brakes outside his house at around 6:30 this morning. He told a neighbor he had a chock block under the truck’s wheel but when he released the truck’s brakes it rolled over the chock block with him still under it. The truck’s differential hit him in the head, knocking off his hat. Fortunately for him he was otherwise uninjured. The truck then rolled downhill into the elderly couple’s home, hitting it on the end, knocking it off its foundation.
Northwest Natural Gas was enroute to the scene.
Considering the range of possibilities between rolling tons of steel, the driver underneath, the couple in their home and natural gas, everybody was really, really lucky.
