The National Weather Service is forecasting some pretty heavy surf off the Oregon Coast starting Saturday at around noon, lasting through Sunday evening. Then cranking back up next Wednesday through Friday with even bigger waves.
The forecast is 8 to 15 feet Saturday starting around noon, rising to 18 feet on Sunday, backing off to around 10 feet Sunday evening.
Then next Wednesday, 11 to 17 feet, backing off a little on Thursday, then back up to 15 feet on Friday of next week.
And as we always say, never turn your back on the ocean. Waves can catch up to one another and suddenly create a 25 foot wall of water, that can not only take you by surprise, but right off the rock you thought you were safe on.
Always, always, always watch the water. Never take your eyes off it. And stay well back on the beach and off leading edges of rocks.
