Being that it’s the 5th Monday of the month, and the city council likes to hold Town Hall meetings on those days, the council decided to introduce the town’s new Fire Hall to its citizens. So the Town Hall meeting is being held at the new fire hall, 225 NE 73rd.
A formal dedication of the facility is set for 5:30pm.
After that everybody goes inside and city staff will discuss issues facing the north end of Newport, including a new urban renewal district, likely to help pay for water and sewer renovations in the area. Also they’ll discuss improvements to the Agate Beach Wayside and other infrastructure issues, which could include roads, bike paths and pedestrian facilities. It depends on what people bring up.
And, perhaps everybody’s favorite, Public Comments. Wide open. And it’s an election year.
