Fugitive Trever Cole has been captured and is now in the county jail. Person accused of hiding him also jailed.
Law enforcement finally caught up Trevor Cole Friday evening. At 10:19pm Friday evening a sheriff’s deputy said over the radio “We have Trever Cole in custody.”
Acting on numerous tips from local citizens, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies and Toledo Police Officers converged in the 100 block of NE Palmer in Siletz. Deputies say in a nearby building they found Trever Cole hiding out with the help of resident Jesi Stokes, 46. Stokes was taken into custody along with Trever Cole. Stokes was charged with hindering the prosecution of a wanted person. Stokes was placed in the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail
Cole, 30, was also transported to the county jail where he was charged in connection with the kidnapping and stabbing of his girlfriend. Cole was booked into the jail on charges of Assault, Domestic Violence, Kidnap, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Firearm, Coercion and Harrassment. Cole’s bail was set at $375,000.
A Sheriff’s Sergeant told News Lincoln County that several officers were working the Siletz area rather thoroughly Friday night and finally caught up with him.
Cole was believed to be hiding among a number of “friendly” homes in the Siletz area. Deputies say they were right as evidenced in the booking of Jesi Stokes, 46. Cole was found at her home.
Cole’s brother Doyle Green was arrested earlier in the week on a parole violation. Both Cole and Green have extensive criminal records.
Cole was wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident between himself and his girlfriend. Cole allegedly stabbed her during an altercation and forcibly took her down to the river. A little later the woman managed to escape and called family. When law enforcement tried to find Cole, he was gone.
Later in the week Oregon State Police SWAT stormed Cole’s home but he wasn’t there. However, SWAT members recovered what is believed to have been the weapon used in the stabbing.
Suffice it to say, the Siletz community is resting much easier today knowing that Trever Cole is no longer at large.
