Lincoln County Sheriff: Those who hide Trever Cole could face prosecution for hindering an investigation – a felony.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s investigators continue to search for a Siletz man who stands accused of kidnapping and stabbing his estranged girlfriend. An OSP SWAT team went through Trever Cole’s residence but found not sign of him.
Investigators remind the public that it is a felony to hide or otherwise conceal someone who is wanted by local authorities. Here’s their wording in a message to the Siletz community:
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is actively looking for Trevor Cole, the suspect in a recent stabbing in Siletz. If you have information please contact this office. You can send us tips via our Facebook or website if you wish.
We are currently receiving tips that certain people may be assisting him and or harboring him. This office will vigorously request prosecution for anyone who commits the crime of Hindering Prosecution. The elements of this felony crime are very clear and are listed below:
(1) A person commits the crime of hindering prosecution if, with intent to hinder the apprehension, prosecution, conviction or punishment of a person who has committed a crime punishable as a felony, or with the intent to assist a person who has committed a crime punishable as a felony in profiting or benefiting from the commission of the crime, the person:
(a) Harbors or conceals such person; or
(b) Warns such person of impending discovery or apprehension; or
(c) Provides or aids in providing such person with money, transportation, weapon, disguise or other means of avoiding discovery or apprehension; or
(d) Prevents or obstructs, by means of force, intimidation or deception, anyone from performing an act which might aid in the discovery or apprehension of such person; or
(e) Suppresses by any act of concealment, alteration or destruction physical evidence which might aid in the discovery or apprehension of such person, or
f) Aids such person in securing or protecting the proceeds of the crime.
