Haulin’ for Hunger!
Lincoln County sanitation haulers are asking for donations of non-perishable food items to help local residents in need. This year’s drive is October 6th through the 10th and benefits Food Share – major distributor for food to the needy.
“We’re trying to do our part to help hungry families, and our customers have supported this drive through their generous donations.” said Gretchen Ammerman of North Lincoln Sanitary Service who coordinates this campaign in concert with Thompson Sanitary Service and Dahl Disposal Service.
Participants can leave donations on top of or next to their trash cart on their regular service day or bring them into the office of the garbage and recycling hauler in their area. Food collected through the drive will go to the local pantry or the Food Share Warehouse located at 535 NE 1st Street in Newport. “This time of year, our food supply is low so food drives are extremely helpful to ensure we have enough on our shelves to distribute to our clients,” said Nancy Mitchell of Food Share.
Food Share of Lincoln County distributes food to pantries located in Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Waldport, Siletz and Toledo, and various partner agencies throughout the county.
