The City of Lincoln City has contracted with “Q-Tax Bookkeeping Service LLC” for Transient Room Tax (TRT) compliance review services. On the morning of September 11, one of the members of the limited liability company (LLC), Quentin Stanhope, was arrested by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of identity theft.
The charge originated with activities outside the City of Lincoln City and does not involve any TRT compliance review activity with, or for, the City of Lincoln City. In fact, other personnel at Q-Tax have principally been involved in City compliance review activity.
At this point, the City knows that records have been seized by the Sheriff’s office, but such seizure does not concern City TRT returns. The City has taken back possession of TRT records located at Q- Tax. If there is any evidence that confidential City TRT information has been misused, the City will promptly notify the affected parties. The City has suspended TRT reviews by Q-Tax and is terminating its contract with the company. The City will also request that our regular City auditors re-examine TRT compliance reviews in which the suspect was involved as a principal.
“The City takes the confidentiality of TRT information very seriously and we are committed to do all we can to protect it” said Debbie Mammone, Finance Director. “If you have any questions, or have any information to share, please call me at (541) 996-1206 or email me at email@example.com.”
