An open letter to the community from JoAnn Barton:
Congratulations to Pam Salisbury and Thank You!
Pam Salisbury is retiring as Executive Director of the Lincoln County Children’s Advocacy Center after six years of exemplary leadership. The committee members of the Center’s annual Celebrate the Children fundraiser would like to extend a hearty Congratulations and a huge Thank You for the leadership, professionalism, and warmth with which she guided our team through the years.
Several committee members are also former Board of Directors members who worked alongside Pam when she took the helm of the Center. We know her work ethic to be unparalleled; she often logged long hours to provide essential services to child victims of sex abuse, largely for a part-time salary. Responding to a growing need while working with a shrinking budget, Pam rolled up her sleeves, filled in wherever needed, and got the work done – regardless of the pay.
Economic downturns disproportionally affect vulnerable families: child abuse rates go up while state revenues and disbursements go down, and social service organizations must do more, with fewer resources. Somehow Pam always managed these harsh realities with grace and led the Children’s Advocacy Center with dignity through the toughest times.
During her tenure as ED of the Center and Chair of our committee, Pam streamlined the event and took on many responsibilities that lightened our load. She helped increase attendance at the annual event, trimmed expenses, recruited new committee members, kept immaculate records … and made it all a lot of fun. Pam fretted over all the details so the committee could focus on our areas of expertise. There have been too many committee meetings to count, but we all enjoyed the work and the camaraderie, and we’ll sorely miss her as we begin planning next year’s gala event set for Feb. 7, 2015. Pam being who she is, we know she has left us in good hands.
Thanks again Pam, and here’s to a very happy, well-earned retirement!
