The Juicy Truth, a new collection by Sarah Gayle, will be presented at SolaLuna Gallery in Toledo during Art Walk this Labor Day Weekend.
Inspired by the wild beauty of blackberries in her own backyard, Sarah has created a beautiful close up view of these plants for which many Oregonians have a love/hate relationship.
The beautiful color your fingers turn after an afternoon of picking berries, started her thinking about using them in her art. In fact, some berries have been turned into watercolors, taking advantage of this natural gift of color. The thorns were also a fascination, from their color to their function, and the thought that something so painful can also hide something so desired and beautiful was worth exploring. Sarah also found parallels between the symbolism of the berries and her own life, finding that great pain can also hide great beauty.
The Juicy Truth celebrates the beauty that is all around us and hopes to inspire you to look closer to see the beauty in everyday things in your world.
Sarah Gayle’s new work will be on display at SolaLuna Gallery at 147 N Main St, Toledo Oregon on Sat Aug 30 to Mon Sep 1 – 10am-5pm.
Sarah will discuss her inspiration, design and some of the storied behind The Juicy Truth at the SolaLuna Gallery on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
