The Lincoln City City Council will tackle three major issues this evening down there at city hall. There’s more discussion expected on mandatory trash pick up which although it’s on the books, there are still hundreds of water bill customers that are not also signed up with North Lincoln Sanitary.
Another long festering issue comes back for more deliberations – Vacation Rental Dwellings. Pushing two years (or more) and the city council is still grinding away at it.
And the council will be considering withdrawing support for Bob Ward’s mission to prove that Sir Frances Drake first landed in Oregon, not California as all the history books claim. He’s won a grant from Lincoln City to help pay for underground probing radar to prove that one of Drake’s smaller ships wintered at the mouth of the Salmon River – it’s crew wiped out by Native Americans. The city is concerned about how long the investigation has been taking. Ward is expected to appear this evening before the council to implore them to give him a little more time. Ward says state mandated paperwork and an immense amount of inter-agency coordination has slowed him down.
The Lincoln City City Council convenes this evening at city hall at 6pm.
