Oregon, for the most part stayed stuck in July for job growth. Figures from June didn’t change much as July came and went.
Unemployment rates remain largely the same across the state. Here in Lincoln County we remained at 7.5%. Tillamook at 6.4%
Around the state, Bend was stuck at 8.1%, Corvallis at 5.3%, Eugene at 6.8%, Medford at 8.5%, Salem at 7% and the Portland Metro remained at 6.1% in July compared to June.
Statewide, unemployment slightly worsened from 6.8% to 6.9%.
Around the state construction was down 500 jobs. Retail trade was off 1,400 jobs, professional and technical services were down 1,100, leisure and hospitality was off 400 jobs.
But there were job gains in other categories like manufacturing which climbed 1,600 jobs, waste services were up 1,000 jobs, health care and social assistance jobs rose by 1,300, and government employment rose 400 jobs – 100 in the federal job roster, 300 at the local government level and ZERO at the state level.
