The City Center Newport Association has proposed an electronic messaging sign be placed at the northwest corner of Highway 101 and Hurbert Street which would be utilized to publicize local events. The proposed sign would contain Art Deco elements in keeping with the “Deco District” in which it would be located. Members of the Association will make a presentation on the proposal, and the City Council will solicit input regarding the proposal.
If approved, the sign would be constructed as a city project utilizing up to $90,000 of transient room tax monies that have been reserved for a project in the Deco District.
