Green Workshop Series Announced by CRLC
Community Rights Lincoln County (CRLC) will present a series of workshops beginning on Wednesday, August 13th at the Lincoln PUD community meeting room, 2129 N. Coast Highway, starting time 7 pm. The series begins with the presentation “Organic Gardening on the Coast” and progresses through topics that bond us to more appreciation and desire to protect ourselves and the natural environment.
To be presented this coming Wednesday, the 13th, “Organic Gardening on the Coast” features a cruise through the formulas and strategies that make organic gardens thrive in our area. Rio Davidson, a consummate organic gardener since childhood, offers an examination of Steve Solomon’s recommendations for soil amendments along with topics ranging from compost tea to plants for pest and plant disease control. There will be time to share personal challenges and successes working with gardens on the Oregon coast.
Second in the workshop series to be presented Wednesday, September 10 is “Compost through the Lens of Permaculture”. Permaculture Designer and Teacher, SeaHeart Elan will introduce the principles behind this design perspective explaining that the first rule of thumb is to observe the processes of nature. Success in composting and soil-building can be had by identifying and balancing the elements — earth, air, fire, and water.
Wren Davidson presents “10 Healing Herbs at Our Doorstep” on Tuesday, October 21. She will walk through the steps of identifying, collecting, preparing and applying healing herbs for a wide range of benefits. Wren is one of the founders of the Women’s Herbalist Conference and has been joyfully sharing her herbal wisdom with community for over 30 years.
All workshops take place at the PUD and begin at 7 pm. Additional workshop dates and topics will be announced by CLRC.
