For those who fear the power of the Koch brothers’ bottomless pit of campaign cash, there was a major election in Tennessee this week that suggests that maybe people shouldn’t be all that afraid of them. The Kochs dumped a lot of money into three Tennessee Supreme Court positions – the Kochs wanting the three “liberal” justices out and demanding it repeatedly for weeks right up until election day. But the voters of Tennessee were not impressed. They decided to tell the Kochs to go back to Texas. They kept their three justices.
It’s a story that ought to give Senator Jeff Merkley some psychological breathing room in his own campaign to hold off Koch brothers backed Monica Wehby.
