SAXOPHONE & CLARINET? EVERYBODY TWINS!
WITH THE PETER & WILL ANDERSON JAZZ TRIO
LINCOLN CITY – The New York Times said they were “virtuosos on clarinet and saxophone.” The Wall Street Journal called them “remarkable,” and All About Jazz said they “play with a passion, unpredictability, and sense of discovery.”
Who are “they”? Peter and Will Anderson, identical twin jazz musicians who are making Lincoln City a stop on their West Coast Tour, Summer 2014. The Peter and Will Anderson Jazz Trio, featuring Alex Wintz on guitar, will play at the Lincoln City Cultural Center Saturday, Aug. 16.
The show begins at 7 pm in the LCCC auditorium, 540 NE Hwy. 101. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 at the door, on sale now at the cultural center box office, 541-994-9994.
Born and raised near Washington DC, the Andersons were first influenced by Charlie Parker and Dexter Gordon, and were mentored by saxophonist Paul Carr. They toured the United Kingdom at the age of 15, playing traditional jazz and swing, then attended Juillard in New York City. They now make the Big Apple their home base, where they have played with Wynton Marsalis, Jimmy Heath, the Village Vanguard Orchestra, Wycliffe Gordon, and the New York City Ballet. Peter and Will are featured in the JAZZIZ Winter 2013 issue Soundtrack.
They’ve headlined at N.Y.C.’s Jazz at Lincoln Center, D.C.’s Blues Alley, the New Orleans Jazz Fest, Sarasota FL Jazz Festival, South Carolina’s Jazz Corner, Seattle’s Triple Door, Iowa’s Bix Beiderbecke Festival, the Central Illinois Jazz Festival, Pennsylvania’s Deer Head Inn, Long Island’s Guild Hall, and Michigan State University.
Enough yak about ’em. Now go see’em and have a ball listening! August 16, 7pm at the Lincoln City Cultural Center on 101 just north of the D Lake Wayside.
