On Thursday evening, at approximately 7 pm, the Toledo Police Department, Toledo Fire Department, and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 100 block of NE Douglas Street in Toledo to investigate a suspicious device. The device was determined to be a “Drano Bomb.” A “Drano Bomb” is a very unpredictable and dangerous homemade explosive device which can cause serious physical injury and chemical burns.
An Everbridge notification was sent to the residents surrounding the 100 block of NE Douglas asking citizens to stay in their homes for their safety. The Oregon State Bomb Squad arrived on scene and detonated the explosive.
The Toledo Police Department is asking people to notify their local law enforcement agency of any plastic bottles containing metal fragments, unusual liquid, and emitting a chemical smell. These are very dangerous and unpredictable devices. If you do find a device matching this description do not touch it, get a safe distance away, and contact your local police department.
