The Coastal Arts Guild Presents Newport artist Cynthia Jacobi Showing How to Make a Painting Paint Itself
Cynthia Jacobi will demonstrate Robert Burridge’s technique on how to make a painting paint itself at the Coastal Arts Guild (CAG) June 5th luncheon. CAG holds a luncheon on the first Thursday of each month for members and guests from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts’ Newport VAC and invites those interested in the arts to attend.
Jacobi is a member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, Yaquina Arts Association and the Toledo Arts Guild. She is part owner of For ArtSake Gallery, an artists-owned gallery in Nye Beach, Newport, where she presents her art. She is also a published poet and board member of Writers on the Edge.
Jacobi loves to take workshops that provide her with new ideas and energy from other artists. One of her recent classes was with Robert Burridge, a well known instructor in acrylic and collage. It is the knowledge she received in this class that she will share at the luncheon. Jacobi often conducts classes and workshops in the local area. In a recent show, she applied her technique of textured plaster and collage on different shapes of wood (long pillars or columns) resulting in abstract wall art.
