Local firefighters have put out a call that they need a lot of junk cars to set on fire in order to train firefighters on how best to save people inside them.
The Oregon Volunteer Firefighter (OVFA) Conference being hosted in Lincoln County June 18-21 is making an appeal for some “junk automobiles” for one of the many classes that will be happening that week.
They are seeking 16-18 junk cars for the “extrication classes” so firefighters from throughout the state can advance their skills for this lifesaving and sadly far too often mission to make a safe and rapid recovery of victims trapped in twisted metal after an accident on Oregon’s highways.
The donated vehicles will be picked up FREE of charge by Lincoln City Towing and North Lincoln Fire & Rescue. Donors will receive a letter of donation from the fire department.
So if you know of some “funky automotive lawn art” in your community that can be put to good use give firefighters Jamie Mason or Jim Kusz a call at 541-996-2233 to arrange the pick-up and/or provide further details!
