Remembering Jack Joyce:
We both have had a long-time acquaintance with Jack as High School Classmates and through the after High School years. He was not one to search out public admiration, but, one who unassumingly helped out and honored requests for different occasions.
One such time was a private Beer Tasting hosted by the ROGUE Brew Master. A local event sponsored by long-time friend and classmate for a Property Owner’s Association meeting.
Another memorable time was the full use, no charge, of the BAYFRONT BREWERY dining and game room facility for a surprise 65th Birthday party for the two of us. We both celebrate same exact dates. He also had gifts for the guests which was a big surprise. The entire story has to be told face to face as our memories are getting less and less. The same lady that he provided the Beer Tasting party for worked with Jack plus our daughter (without our knowledge) to provide the birthday party. There must have been 60-65 people there.
There was also the time he agreed to be ‘Mr. February’, 2008, for the benefit of the Newport Senior Center Fund Raiser Calendar, “Men of the Oregon Coast”.
Jack never disregarded his friends, community, or the act of generosity. He was just the “Run Silent, Run Deep” type of character. Leo and Jan Schulz
