An Oregon State Police (OSP) recruit trooper Sunday morning interrupted a woman’s attempt to take her own life.
The trooper stopped to checkout what appeared to be a disabled vehicle along Highway 126W near Mapleton. It was parked about 75 yards off the highway at milepost 12. As he drew closer to the car, the trooper spotted an adult female reclined back in the driver’s seat, obviously in medical distress with a plastic bag over her head and pills in her hand.
The trooper called for medics and initiated emergency medical care until relieved by medics. The 52-year old woman was transported to a landing site location and then taken by REACH air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
