A hard working and much admired member of the Waldport Public Works Department, who fell ill April 23rd, has died in hospice. The death of Ralph Bond, 55, took many of his friends and associates very much by surprise in that Bond was very much into fitness and healthy activities. Bond was also a long-time Taekwondo enthusiast and instructor as well as an avid hunter.
Bond leaves behind two grown daughters and a son.
Co-workers at Waldport Public Works say they were stunned at the suddenness of his quick passing. They described him as a very hard working utilityman who faithfully took care of Waldport’s roads as well as the town’s sewer and water systems. He even maintained a private water system out Alsea Highway where he lived.
Prior to hiring on in Waldport, Bond worked for many years for the Seal Rock Water District.
Memorial plans are pending.
