TODAY IS THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER TO VOTE FOR THE MAY PRIMARY
Eligible voters can register online or fill out paper forms
SALEM — Secretary of State Kate Brown is reminding all eligible Oregon voters that today is the last day to register to vote in order to participate in the May Primary.
“I’m urging all eligible Oregon voters today to register so they can have their voices heard in the May 20th Primary,” said Secretary Brown. “There are important statewide and local races to be decided across Oregon. Everyone should be heard.”
Paper registration forms must be turned into county elections officials by 5 p.m. Mailed forms must have an April 29 postmark. Online voter registration is available until 11:59 p.m. You must have a valid Oregon Driver’s License or state ID in order to register online.
The May Primary will decide which candidates face off in November for the U.S. Senate, governor and Oregon’s five congressional districts. Voters will choose candidates for city council and county commission seats across Oregon. The election also features several local ballot measures, including proposals to ban growing some genetically engineered plants in Jackson County and create a separate water and sewer district in Portland.
