Firefighters from across Oregon are seeking donations to establish a first-ever Fire Service Museum to put on display a complete history of firefighting equipment and fire fighting tactics that have played an important role in the decades upon decades of fire service in the state.

The video below lays out the dream that is finally coming together to celebrate the men and women who have provided firefighting services throughout Oregon and the fire equipment they operated while providing those services.

The Kickstarter fundraiser goal is $50,000 to get the first phase of the effort going which will include plans and initial preparation for the Oregon Fire Museum.

President of the Oregon Fire Museum Greg Musil of the Depoe Bay Fire District said the museum is to be located at Antique Powerland in Brooks, OR, right off Interstate 5, just north of Salem. Musil says it’s a location that will ensure that hundreds of thousands of Oregonians and tourists will be able to visit and learn about Oregon’s long firefighting history and about the equipment and the men and women who operated it, some of them losing their lives while in service to their communities.
