An 18 wheeler is off Highway 18 at Maple Drive (milepost 7.8). Driver injured – possibly life threatening. Emergency responders enroute.
Driver is conscious and breathing. Responders still trying to determine if summoning REACH is required. Sounds like only residents/other motorists on scene at this point.
Emergency responders still enroute. Reports from the scene indicate the truck and trailer are demolished. Unknown what the truck was carrying.

ODOT is directing traffic with flaggers. One lane of travel. Expect delays. There is also reported to be a major fuel leak that they’re beginning to clean up. The Salmon River is very close to the highway at that point.
Truck driver is being transported to a hospital in Lincoln City. The scene is beyond Rose Lodge but not quite to the Van Duzer Scenic Corridor.
Driver is being transported to North Lincoln Hospital. That’s a very good sign. If they had transported him east to meet with REACH or Life Flight might have indicated worse injuries.
Westbound Highway 18 is closed about 8 miles east of Otis – between Rose Lodge and Van Duzer Scenic Corridor.
A tow is being considered for the truck but law enforcement on scene says the truck tractor itself is demolished. The trailer it was pulling is said to be full of cookies. Wisconsin plate on the truck. There is a significant fuel spill ODOT is trying to get its arms around.
