Lincoln County Citizen Alert, a mass notification program sponsored through the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has new features available to citizens and businesses:
• River flood monitoring: The Yachats and Yaquina rivers’ are now monitored by the National Weather Service allowing Lincoln County Citizen Alert to be activated for potential flooding for those rivers as well as the already monitored Siletz and Alsea rivers.
• Special needs profile information: Has been expanded to include additional categories such as wheelchair/mobility needs, oxygen or medication required refrigeration. These special needs information categories assist public safety officials with planning efforts for neighborhood evacuation needs.
• Easier navigation of profile information: The upgrades provided for a more user friendly approach to entering member profile information such as phone, cell, email, etc. and physical locations of addresses in Lincoln County that members want to receive emergency alert notifications for.
As part of our system upgrade those members who have not refreshed their information since of August of 2013 will need to follow the one-time information steps located on the sign-on screen.
If Citizens are considering creating a profile to include their additional contact information then we recommend each adult type person in their household create their own profile to ensure they receive the messages independently of other household members. Businesses are encouraged to create a profile for their property locations; all opt-in profile members can receive messages for up to 5 physical locations within Lincoln County.
Citizens are reminded if they choose not to create their own profile, they will still receive emergency notifications to traditional landline or home/business phones they have in service. Each landline number in the Lincoln County 911 database is included annually in our program; this ensures all households with a landline will receive critical emergency information. Registering your additional contact information will ensure accurate and all inclusive contact information for you and your family. All information provided is kept strictly confidential.
Residents who do not have a computer or internet access should contact their local library for free use of their computers to log onto the Internet and sign up or ask friends or family to assist.
