High Surf Advisory

Chris Burns Weather

The National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory, in effect from 2:00am to 10:00am Sunday, for the Central Oregon Coast.

* Seas: rapidly building to 16 to 18 feet after midnight and continue at this level through early Sunday morning. Seas will then slowly subside.

* Impacts: exercise extreme caution along beaches. Unpredictable and destructive waves may wash over beaches, rocks, offshore islets, jetties and other structures with no warning. Hazards increase during high tides which will occur around 5:00am and 7:00pm Sunday.

* Precautionary/preparedness actions: a High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
