Lot of “wining” and “growling” going on in many Oregon restaurants – Sen. Wyden’s a little miffed about it too.
Senator Ron Wyden has fired off a letter of complaint to the U.S. Treasury Department to back off on hassling people who walk in to a restaurant, sit down and put an empty wine bottle on the table and ask for a fill up. It’s the vino version of “the beer growler” movement that has grown in popularity around the Beaver State.
Seems as though that the Treasury’s Alcohol, Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau forbids such activities unless the restaurant or bar is also a tax-paying wine bottling house. Hmmmmmm…..
