Lincoln City: Sewer spill into Schooner Creek – Corrected amount of the spill
The Lincoln City Public Works Department has issued a correction on their earlier news release on the estimated amount of a sewer spill into Schooner Creek. 1,800 gallons instead of 80,000 gallons.
Sewer discharge at the Lincoln City Wastewater Treatment Plant
On April 1, a sewer spill occurred, due to a lagoon discharge pipeline that broke. The broken pipe was repaired immediately. The non-disinfected treatment discharge lasted for approximately one hour. The estimated amount is 1,800 gallons of partially treated wastewater discharged into Schooner Creek at the Wastewater Treatment Plant outfall east of the Schooner Creek Bridge.
The affected areas surrounding the sites were immediately posted. Samples will be taken regularly to determine safe bacteriological levels and the posted notices will be removed once safe levels are met.
The City notified appropriate personnel at Oregon Emergency Response and the Department of Environmental Quality.
