ODOT has closed OR 6 (Wilson River Highway) in both directions through the evening hours following a mud slide around milepost 32 about eight miles west of Glenwood. An ODOT geologist will be at the site late this afternoon to make an assessment.
Cleanup is expected to begin late today and continue tomorrow morning. It is estimated that 300 to 400 yards of dirt and debris (about 40 dump truck loads) are covering the highway. OR 6 is closed at Banks and Tillamook with variable message (VMS) signs warning motorists of the closure. There is no estimate when the highway will be opened.
Motorists should avoid the area or use an alternative route such as U.S. 26 or OR 18/OR 22. Expect delays.
