The Newport Port Commission yesterday gave the green light for Rogue Breweries at South Beach to expand their distillery operations, just south of the main marina office. The 10,500 square foot expansion will be part distillery storage part aging barrel making. Rogue says the expansion includes additional spirits production, barrel storage, bottling and packaging, storage for both dry and finished goods and cooperage.
Rogue will also be removing a parking island as part of the landscaping design.
To soften the look of the large addition Rogue will install a water related mural on the south face of the new addition, the design for which will be approved by the port commission.
Construction on the expansion is not expected to take more than a couple of months.
