Surprise Drug Dog Search of Taft High: No drugs found inside school or in parking lot.
On Thursday Lincoln City Police working with the administrators at Taft High School, conducted a surprise drug dog visit to the school.
The school administrators were assisted by the Lincoln City Police School Resource Officer,
members of the Lincoln Inter-agency Narcotics Team (LINT), a drug dog from Newport Police
and a drug dog from the Oregon State Police. At about 9:00am the school went to a code yellow lock down for about two hours while the drug dogs were used to do random checks inside and outside the school building.
The drug dogs and their handlers conducted random checks for drugs at various areas, including studen lockers. Random checks of vehicles in the school parking lot were also made. No drugs were located during the visit.
Surprise drug dog visits to the schools are conducted occasionally during the school year as a proactive effort to keep the schools and students safe.
