Finally – THE smoking gun in the Cover Oregon computer roll-out fiasco
A major investigation has been released on what went wrong, or more to the point, what continually went wrong with Oregon’s plans to be a shining star for Obamacare signups over the internet. The report portrays Oregon instead as a shining example of bureaucratic infighting which has cost the taxpayers untold millions of dollars – and that losses could grow even larger since it appears that systems provider Oracle can claim it was only doing what it was told to do.
For Governor Kitzhaber the report is a profound embarrassment because it not only happened on his watch, but also that he trusted home grown “experts” rather than checking how things are done beyond Oregon’s boundaries when it comes to extremely challenging computer networking services.
